There are just TOO many goodies that the auto-pickers miss. Luckily, some of those were caught by Tasters today and will drop again soon.

GoDaddy was giving away — and may still be — domains for $1.99 today with coupon code 199test. That’s awesome, the barrier to get into this business is just so amazing LOW. That’s why GoDaddy will sponsor tomorrow’s Live Chat + Drop with a banner.

An auction was run during the Live Chat + Drop and went pretty well. I think the rules make it go fairly quick. A little advertising BEFORE the drop would get more people to show up, but I’m still all in favor of the Instant Call To Auction approach.

Well, I’m off to look at the drop list for tomorrow and will write more before tomorrow’s Drop so Stay Tuned!

I’ve been scratching my head overnight about how to do auctions during the Live Chat + Drop. It inevitably happens: two or more people see a name that HAVE to HAVE, but only one, of course, can eventually register it.

I’d like to figure out some rules for running an auction during the chat… here’s what I’ve come up with so far and I’d like to try it out during drop today:

  • 2 or more GoDroppers vote to hold an auction for one domain
  • The auction starts immediately
  • All auctions start at $1 with a reserve of $10
  • Bid increases are set at $1 or more
  • Anyone may participate in an auction
  • No PM offers, all offers must be in the public chat record
  • Auctions end with a 1) going once… 2) going twice… 3) and… 4) sold!
  • Payment to be agreed upon by the seller and winner by PM (Private Message)

I think these rules make sense… let me know if you think this is absurd or crazy! :) The goal these auctions is to:

  • only hold an auction on domains people are actually interested in
  • start auctions quickly
  • end them quickly

Think about all those eBay and forum auctions you ever seen… how many times have people used the term “Low Start”? I’ve think I’ve seen that used about a zillion times. The phrase gets people interested and their eyes on the sales page.

So (fanfare), I’m now the proud owner of LowStart.com, free listings for your discounted items and low start auctions. Nothing there yet… going to install WordPress shortly…

Today, Bido will have an auction for eDaycare.com, which I think it a fantastic brandable, one of the best so far seen Bido. The auction starts in 1 hour (10am PST) and only lasts 1 hour, so head on over and get yourself a great name!
