What is GoDrops.com?

At GoDrops.com, we do nothing but provide you with the best lists of domain names that are nearing release by the registry. We provide a day in advance all the stats you’ll need to determine which domains to try picking up “on the drop” or back-order if it’s a truly a must-have name.

What else does GoDrops.com do?

Glad you asked! Every day at 11am PST (Los Angeles timezone) we go LIVE! During the .COM and .NET domain drop we host a live “Chat and Drop” event. Domainers big and small come to chat and shoot the breeze while watching the best names drop in a live feed.

What do you get with the Premium Membership?

Premium GoDrops.com members have the full-stats enabled on every domain names. These stats include Google searches per month, Google index frequency, cost-per-click, domain age and estimated value.

What do you get with the Free membership?

“Free” members can participate in the daily live Chat and Drop event. Access to the live drop feed is provided, but the domain stats are not visible.

What do the colors GREEN and RED mean?

RED indicates a domain is unavailable, either because it’s in pendingDelete status or it’s been registered. GREEN names indicate that the domain is available for hand-registration.

Where do the domain names found on GoDrops.com come from?

The domains at GoDrops.com come from the pending delete domain lists found at popular domain backorder websites.

Does GoDrops.com know the exact time that individual .COM and .NET domains drop?

No. We choose the names for the daily drop, then scan for them during the live Chat and Drop in random order.

What time do domain names drop?

That depends on the domain extension. Here’s a quick look (all times are Los Angeles, U.S. Pacific time):

1am .TV
3am-4am .INFO
7:30am .ORG
10am-11am .BIZ
11am-12pm .COM/.NET/.US
2pm-3pm .CA
5pm-6pm .ME

GoDrops Now with More Twitter

We’ve got some GREAT new chat features including Twitter integration, avatar support and “quick-response” links. Tomorrow, we’ll be introducing a brand new feature “quick-reviews”. Here’s how the quick-response chat features work:

From any name on the live domain drop feed, you can “fav” it, “hate it” and now you can ask the room to “rate it” for you. Here’s an example of how the rate it works…

One of the (many) benefits that GoDrops members have is the ability to “fav” domains they see on the site. Domains listed on any page, the live feed, the “my drop” page, the search, and “my watch” page, can be faved and unfaved simply by clicking the STAR icon. This is just coming back online now, so if you catch any bugs or issues please let me know in the comments below… =)

When a faved name drops or becomes available, a notification email is sent to YOU immediately. So sit back and relax. Come fav the freshest names during the daily domain drop everyday at 11am PST, or browse the site and make your picks — all this is absolutely FREE for GoDrops members!

Dude, Where's My Widget?

Everyday at 11am PST the Daily Domain Drop starts. This is when expired dot COM and dot NET domains are deleted from the central registry and become available for general registration at your favorite registrar. Here at GoDrops we bring it to you LIVE from drop start to drop finish.

Accompanying the live feed is also a chat widget where spectators can talk with others about the dropping names, domaining news or whatever… and from where I sit during drop time, the chat widget has stopped working and THAT’S why I haven’t been showing up to chat recently.

So, along with the pending theme update, I’ll be replacing the chat widget… again, sorry if you were looking for me during the chat. Hopefully, things will be mended in a couple days =P

Feeds Go Live this Evening!

In anticipation of domain tasters possibly dumping their domains before the midnight deadline tonight due to registrars’ implementation of the new ICANN refund policy, GoDrops.com will turn on LIVE feeds on the Live Chat + Drop page: http://godrops.com/live. Not sure which time zone the 11:59pm occurs in, so I’ll assume US. Eastern Time.

We’ll let it run and see what happens…!

Site Updates

If you’ve come to the Live Chat + Drop lately, you’ll see some interface changes. Thanks to all the GoDroppers who provided feedback. Domans in the live feeds are now in a monospace font (which doesn’t work on a Linux laptop I have — let me know…) and .NET names are marked more clearly to not confuse them with .COM.

Also, I think the .NET names are getting good enough feedback that I can keep them in. The bar is much higher for .NET than for .COM, so only the most catchy brandables and generics will get in.

No one can just say that they’re a domain drop catcher ( Even though that DOES get me in the hottest clubs in L.A. ) My Alter Ego lives at http://dropbuzz.com and that’s where I talk about domain development. I’ve got some free WordPress Plugins, development advice and a Forum to talk about them all…

Oh, and I’ve just started a Domainer Poll: “What WordPress Plugin Would You Like to Have?“. If I get some good feedback, I just might create one (or more) and give them away! So don’t delay, check it out TODAY!

I’m running a Logo Contest over at Digital Point. Check It Out!

GoDrops is getting about 12,000 page views a month now… Thank You! Our engineers are still scanning every day of the week at those dropping domains. “We don’t stop because the drops don’t stop.”

I’ll be doing some updates to the theme soon and the new Logo should really make a difference. I’ve had nothing but good experiences over at DP running Logo contests. Check out the result of my last contest for my site for the Top 50 Blogs.

I’ve now got TWO scanners running 24/7: GoDrops #1 and GoDrops #3. Handling the cold storage is #3, checking every name I’ve ever watched. For the day’s drops and GoDropper favorites, I’ve got a dedicated server #3 scanning more efficiently.

You should see some available names pop-up that you may NOT have seen before… so, keep your eye on the feed at the Live Page which ALSO runs 24/7 now, sometimes with live video!
