There was a problem today tagging the eNom catches as “tasted“. They’ve been tagged now and will show up on the daily report page and the member-watch page correctly.

What the #!@*$ Happened Today?

As everyone probably knows, today GoDrops #1 went down causing the feeds during the Live Chat + Drop to sit suspiciously still. I received a DM tweet from a GoDropper about it, but didn’t get to fixing the problem until this afternoon — thankfully in time for eNom’s afternoon drops.

So, the problem had to do with the .com/.net WHOIS servers; they were being flaky not during opening connections or sending requests, but when receiving responses. My script was just hanging and NOT timing-out as it should have been doing…

I’ve fixed the problem my timing out in 5 seconds if WHOIS doesn’t respond. Things should be back to normal now.. whew!

Back Up and Running Smooth!

I’ve got the Home Server (GoDrops #1) back up and running, and I’ve also optimized the scanner so that during the Daily Drop, it can detect drops faster.

In other news, the recent drops of L-L-L.com, all nearly full anti-premium, may have been picked up by a new Taster. We’ll know VERY soon if it IS a taster by their drops or kited names. Anyway, I’m not SO happy about my pickup of Z-P-T.com recently, as all of the more recent L-L-L.com drops have been of similar quality…

Minor Service Interruption!

Just got the GoDrops scanner back on-line, sorry for the brief black-out. eNom taster drops should have been recorded and emails sent out by now. Hijinx insued today when at the cafe where I had been running the scanner from my laptop, the ice-tea, which was very good BTW, had taken its course and made the last half of the drop particularly uncomfortable. Not to worry, I took it all with me to the boys room and no one NOT chatting should have been the wiser…

Anyway, if anyone has a shell account I could borrow, please shoot me a message!

OK, I admit, a Frager title if there ever was one. I’m not attempting parody, but actually putting myself in THAT state of mind. Strong call-to-action names work well with AND without the .COM at the end and the post’s title forces you to think in that way.

FindFellowship.com dropped yesterday and is still available. There a couple guys right now sitting across from me at a coffee shop… I’m going to pitch it. / goes and pitches the domain /

An L-L-L.com Drops Again

B-Z-Y.com was dropped on the 19th and was picked up by eNom immediately. eNom let it drop today and it was left out in the open under 2 hours and was grabbed by someone else… Nice One! These types are easy flips. Being an anti-premium, however, don’t expect to much out of this one. I’ve got a cousin, B-Z-Z.com, which I’m developing now (reminds me of “buzz”).

Everyone seemed to prefer the uStream.tv chat widget over the Meebo one — less spam, more responsive, etc… Not sure if the chat logs are kept; sometimes it’s nice to go back and see what everyone was talking about if I couldn’t be there or forgot some details.

Anywho, tomorrow (Sunday) during the Live Chat + Drop, I’ll be giving some fixed-prices on a few domains to raise some $$$. Maybe I’ll do a reverse auction on them too, not sure… So, come tomorrow to see what domains YOU could get on the cheap!

Trying Out a New Chat Widget

The Live Chat + Drop will be using a new chat widget today from the GoDrops.com uStream.tv channel. Just the chat window and not the video. I did stream live the Drop Chat once during a contest — THAT was a lot of fun and I’ll probably do it again soon if I upgrade my circa 2001 webcam…

I WAS going to use a Yahoo chat widget for the Live Chat + Drop, but found out that it only works as a Two-way Chat, not as a Chat Room. So, instead I’ve added that Yahoo chat widget to my page over on PopupNews.com. I’m still developing PopupNews.com, but it’s coming along… this domain is one of my GoDrops grabs way back in July.
