GoDrops.com and Advertisers

The GoDrops.com frontpage is NOT the typical Blog frontpage. There’s a lot of stuff going on here: Available Names Feed, Polls, Aggregate Feeds from the DropBuzz.com Network, Drop-Clock, the Feel Lucky Link, and a lot of other stuff…

A GoDropper during yesterday’s Live Chat + Drop suggested a few ways I could monetize this site better. One idea was to add a panel of 125×125 Text Link Ads. So, killing two birds, I’ve created a new Blog Page that has the typical “Blog Feel” and have added Text Link Ads to the sidebar — they won’t show up right away, maybe in a couple days they tell me, but I’ve added my own ads from Commission Junction there for now.

Just to set the record straight: this is NOT a “money” site, nor do I plan to “sell” it down the road. The purpose of this site is to talk about the Daily Domain Drop in the context of domains that I personally watch (this will be extended to members soon) and to help Others grab Good Domains off the Drop and from Taster Drops. If anyone DOES want to advertise here, feel free to contact me. The site is getting about 15K page views per month… Rockin!

The thing I don’t like about Text Link Ads is that sites that have them look Spammy and don’t have advertisers that are targeted or help YOU the audience/users (I’ll probably be banned now for saying this, lol). Also, the domain they use is www.text-link-ads.com. Ugh… hyphens, the dumb ‘www’ in front, blah.

Anyhow, it’s off the front page so definitely in wait-and-see-mode with Text Link Ads. Oh, and other thing: I think they’re banned from Google because I couldn’t find them searching for “text link ads”… Bad Sign.
