Parking Report

Nearly all the names I catch with GoDrops I park with RevenueDirect.com. Why? The landers aren’t ugly, they pay every two weeks to Paypal and support is good.

Yesterday was a good day with one of my past catches, AptHotels.com. You may remember ApartHotels.com sold on Namejet just north of $27,000 not long ago. “AptHotels” appeared on the daily drop list and I caught it and so far as earned just under $5 parked. Drop in the bucket, yes, but it has good end-user potential IMO or developed as a travel affiliate…

Domains I Watch

Just giving a little peek into what I look for in the daily drops… There are so many kinds of domains to chase, multiple portfolio strategies to follow, but when you’re dealing with daily drops — tens of thousands of names dropping everyday — a consistent focus on the kinds of domains that find end-users works for me.

Look at any domain sales report and take stock of what sells. Use those keywords in searching for available and dropping names. There are a few other rules I stick to that further reduce the domain haystack:

That about sums it up. Do this day-in and day-out and you’ll find gems. I don’t chase LLLL.com, because it’s still impossible to hand-register them when they do drop. Running the same criteria everyday does get a little monotonous, so once in a while I try random keywords…

Happy Hunting!

Rick Latona Laments

In a post today on his blog, Rick Latona waxes regretfully about not registering more ccTLD domains. I’ve just been to Europe too, and by in large those countries are using their own ccTLD. Even global companies use the local extensions. But, what’s a good bet given you may not understand the language? Short three- and four-letter names I’d imagine…

Way ahead of your Rick! Just yesterday I registered 100 co.cc domains for a $10 donation. A little research (i.e. Wikipedia, lol) shows that in the Cocos Islands English is the primary language, Coconuts are a big export crop and Tourism is on the rise. Here’s a peek at what I got:

discounttickets.co.cc
beachcondos.co.cc
gourmetcoconuts.co.cc
cheapcoconuts.co.cc
motorcyclerentals.co.cc
beachholiday.co.cc
yachtrental.co.cc
ilovecocos.co.cc
cocosrepair.co.cc
summervacations.co.cc
winterbreak.co.cc
visitcocos.co.cc
cocosvacations.co.cc
cocostravel.co.cc
cocosholidays.co.cc
cocoshotels.co.cc
cocosproperty.co.cc
cocostours.co.cc
cruisejobs.co.cc
mycocos.co.cc

And just for fun:

snowmobilerentals.co.cc
rumcakes.co.cc (my tribute to Frank Schilling)

New Feature for GoDrops.com

Exciting news here at GoDrops labs! Over on the sidebar, you’ll see the familiar “Fresh Drops” list where you’ll find some great names that have just been dropped either by original registrar or by a domain taster.

And just below that under “Fresh Takes” you’ll see what has just been registered by domainers like YOU and me, but also by domain tasters and large portfolio holders.

Where do these names come from? They are selected from the daily deleting names lists. Some are automatically picked (like NNNNN.com and premium LLLL.net) and the others are hand selected. Each name is then given to the GoDrops whois scanner and tended to with care…

Trolling Past Drops

Spent a little time today going back in time, trying to find names that standout one way or the other. Some nice brandables (SpinMaps.com), call-to-action (WhackDebt.com), and various enthusiast names for blogs and communities (MsUnique.com, LawnBuff.com, BabelMe.com, WebPotter.com, DVDLook.com, ChatSpa.com).

Daily I check for the same keywords, but sometimes you have to jump into the lists with the targeting computer off… :) Oh, my grabs today were TeeTools.com for golf tools and accessories and BagHound.com for shopping for deals on handbags.

In and Out of the Shopping Cart

I almost registered TeenJewellery.com (it still might be in the sidebar here), but when doing some standard checking I found that “jewellery” is the British spelling and receives A LOT less searches monthly according to Google. The typo TeenJewelery.com is taken and had it been the American spelling, TeenJewelry.com, THAT would have been a real grab.

Typos and less popular alternative spelling don’t mix well with longer-tail domains. On their own, yes, but otherwise, leave it out of the shopping cart and always check the spelling before registering names!

Caught By Surprise Today

There was really only ONE name I wanted to get today on the drop. It did drop, but early, and I just missed it (the drop is still going on and will continue for another hour or so).

A quick check of the updated whois info showed a known taster, Vibrant Networks, had caught it just after it had dropped. They were unusually quick with this one and caught me off guard. Good news is that they’ll likely refund the name within 4 days, so… whois scanners on full! I’m patient…

Oh, the name? I’ll let you know when I get it :) The picture is a clue…

Auction Report and Today's Grab

A few days ago, I talked about ItalianSubs.com dropping and going to Snapnames for a private auction. That auction finished today at $230. A quick look using the Google Keyword Tool shows that most people looking for “sub”, if they’re not interested in pimping their car stereo, are indeed looking for something to eat…

Offhand, I can’t think of anything better than an Italian sub except a Phily Cheesesteak, but that’s just me :) Congrats to the new owner! The GoDrops.com whois scanner will be watching you!

Oh yeah, today’s LLLL.net grab was a VCVC pattern OWOP.net. After selling a bulk load of LLLL.net recently to BuyDomains for $10-$30 each, I think I’ll start getting back into forum auctions at NamePros.com. I have a lot of fun running those…

Gone Green

In a previous post I gave everyone a heads-up on the dropping green<city-name>.com names today. Well, how did you do? I just took only one: GreenPrague.com. Vibrant Networks is tasting a few and someone took GreenAthens.com early… nice catch there, another great tourist destination to go green!

eDaycare.com at Bido.com

I’ve submitted several names that I’ve caught on the drop to Bido. Bido auctions a lot of the 2 word variety dot com names, which is right up my alley, so I’m hopeful…

Today, Bido will have an auction for eDaycare.com, which I think it a fantastic brandable, one of the best so far seen Bido. The auction starts in 1 hour (10am PST) and only lasts 1 hour, so head on over and get yourself a great name!
